- Excisional boipsy-removal a small part of thyroid gland. (rarely used today)
- Lobectomy-removing half of thyroid gland.
- Removing nearly all thyroid gland (subtotal thyroidectomy)
- Total thyroidectomy, which removes all identible thyroid tissue.
